For Young learners
ScienceAROUND aims to anchor the interests and pursuits of young learners in the sciences and enables them to develop the attitudes, knowledge, and skills required to thrive in the 21st century. We discard the idea that curricula teach young people to be creative or collaborative. STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) are critical for individual careers and humanity in general and they should not be learnt by rote or by preparation for exams.
For Educators
Educators are an invaluable piece of the ScienceAROUND experience. Educators at all levels - right from primary school through to middle school, high school, and beyond - need to learn the importance of enabling science learning through experimentation and exploration, not by limiting students to curricular outcomes.
Academic institutions
Schools, colleges, and similar institutions have been seeking to promote science, with mixed results. ScienceAROUND will ally with these institutions to improve learning opportunities for their science enthusiasts. These institutional collaborations will serve as virtuous cycles, as continual feedback will help the students and the educators.
Business and industry
Science provides a competitive edge for many businesses, through the development of intellectual property and innovation. ScienceAROUND will partner with these companies to enable students to learn directly from the field, as well as provide businesses with a ready stream of motivated individuals.
Government
The government at all levels is perhaps the largest and most powerful interested party in the field of science. As such, allying with the government is a must. The work of ScienceAROUND is aimed at politicians, bureaucrats, and government agencies, as a way of demonstrating what is possible.
Citizens
The public faces several large-scale problems such as pollution and water shortages. In solving these problems, science can play a decisive role. ScienceAROUND will involve local residents in terms of finding scientific solutions at all local levels. This will also encourage scientific inquiry.
Equity
ScienceAROUND will make an extra effort to include those from underrepresented and underprivileged groups of people. These could include those from the SC/ST community, girls and women, transgenders, those with physical challenges, and those from financially deprived backgrounds.
